At Pivotal Motion Acupuncture, we believe that empowering our patients with knowledge, and strategies to apply that knowledge, is the key to success. Our practitioners strive to provide our patients with personalized treatments that alleviate pain, speed up recovery, and restore balance to the body.
Despite being more than 2,500 years old, the ancient wisdom of acupuncture as a healing modality can still be applied today. Inserting a fine, sterile acupuncture needle into the body prompts an increase in local blood circulation, signals immune system activation, releases the body's natural painkillers, and reduces the pain signaling response.
From a musculoskeletal perspective, acupuncture needles can be used to reset a sub-optimal muscle back to its functional state. When a needle is inserted into a muscle motor point, a twitch response occurs, thus increasing communication between the muscle and the central nervous system. This increased communication helps to reset muscle tone, providing longer lasting pain relief and guiding the muscular system back to its optimal functional state.
